Ulkaa Journal
An online diary that is all yours
A free daily journal app made for teens: track your mood, answer a prompt, decorate the page with stickers and keep a streak. Private by default, with a PIN lock for your device.
How it works
Write a little, most days
No blank-page pressure. Use a face, a sentence or a whole page.
1. Check in
Tap a face for how today is going. It takes two seconds and keeps your streak alive.
2. Write what you want
Answer the daily prompt, list what you are grateful for, or just ramble. Add photos, stickers and GIFs.
3. Look back
Scroll your timeline, colour in your Year in Pixels and see which feelings keep showing up.

- Available now
Private by default
Journal entries stay out of your note search and lists, and cannot be shared or linked unless you switch sharing on for that one entry.
- Available now
Export and a printable book
Download a month or a year as Markdown, or print a book with a cover and one entry per page, keeping each page’s paper and stickers.
- Available now
Voice entries
Speak your entry and read the transcript, in many languages including Bangla.
- Available now
Journal search
Search your own entries by word, mood or feeling. They still stay out of note search.

Daily Trajectory
One tap each night on "Would tomorrow being the same make you happy?" draws a 30-day strip and a trend line, and tells you when your nights and your mood point different ways.
- Available now
Guided programs
Follow a short program: 7 days of gratitude, an exam stress check-in, know yourself, or being a good friend.
- Available now
Weather and place
Add the weather and where you were to an entry.

Gentle support card
If an entry sounds like you are struggling, a card shows helplines. The check runs on your device only and nothing is sent.
Privacy
Your diary stays yours
Here is exactly what is private and what is not.
- Entries are private by default, and stay out of your note search and lists
- Nothing can be shared, and no link can be made, until you switch on sharing for that one entry
- The PIN lock keeps your journal behind a lock screen on the device where you set it
Honest limit: the lock is a privacy screen for your device, not end-to-end encryption. Your entries are stored on Ulkaa's servers like any note so they can sync. Read the Security page for what we do and do not claim.

Questions
Is Ulkaa Journal free?
Yes. It is part of Ulkaa Note, which is free with a free Ulkaa account. There is no premium tier for the Journal.
Can other people read my journal?
Not unless you let them. Entries are private to you by default: they stay out of note search and lists, and sharing or a public link is refused until you switch on “Allow sharing” for that one entry. Ulkaa does not make journals public.
Is the PIN lock encryption?
No. The PIN (and the optional device unlock) is a lock screen for the device you set it on: it is stored there as a salted hash and never sent to Ulkaa. Your entries are saved like any other note and are not end-to-end encrypted, so on another device you set the lock again.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Entries are written to your browser first and sync when you are online and signed in. Streak numbers, insights and the daily prompt need a connection to refresh.
Is there a mobile app?
Not yet. Ulkaa Journal runs in the browser on your phone, tablet or computer. There are no native Journal apps today.
Can I get my entries out?
Yes. Export any month or year as a Markdown file, or print a book from the entries on your device and save it as a PDF.
